Hatters Roll to 10th Win of the Season

Brianti Saunders breaks another school record

DeLand, Fla. – Fueled by double-doubles from Breana Bey and Sarah Sagerer, Stetson cruised to a 89-50 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic Saturday afternoon at the Edmunds Center.

The Hatters shot 53 percent from the floor and 84 percent from the free throw line to improve to 10-2 on the season.

"I was glad that we got to play a lot of different people and had some different combinations," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "It was a good game for us."

Stetson led wire-to-wire for the second game in a row. The Hatters scored 50 points in the paint and 16 points off of turnovers.  Overall, Bria says the team has been doing a much better job of moving the ball quickly in transition.

"I felt like our tempo early in the season was a bit slow, maybe a bit boring," Bria said.  "I don't like to play boring.  I like to play fast, and I think our tempo has been good lately."

Bey finished a team-high with 19 points on 8-for-9 shooting, adding 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the year.  Sagerer approached a triple-double once again with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and seven blocks.  She now has 40 blocks on the season, tied for second-most in the NCAA.

Brittney Chambers tallied 14 points and five assists, hitting a pair of 3-pointers.  Brianti Saunders scored 12 points and broke another all-time school record, this one for most career free throws made.  She surpassed Kristy Brown's previous mark of 370 free throws made early in the third quarter.

Kennedi Colclough reached double figures as well (10 points) for the fourth game in a row.

Stetson outrebounded Palm Beach Atlantic 46-26.

The Hatters will take a break for final exams before returning to the court December 19th and 20th for the 29th Annual Hatter Classic.
