Hatters Halted by FGCU

Jordan Tully Scores 11 for the Second Straight Game

Fort Myers, Fla. -- FGCU made 12 3-pointers en route to a 80-40 victory over visiting Stetson Saturday afternoon in the ASUN opener at Alico Arena.

Jordan Tully and Brittney Chambers each scored 11 points to lead the Hatters (9-8, 0-1 ASUN), who trailed 38-17 at halftime.

"We didn't do anything right offensively.  Couldn't make a free throw, couldn't make a lay-up," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.

"Not taking away anything from FGCU, they are very, very good, but they didn't do anything that we didn't expect.  We  just couldn't do anything right.  We couldn't generate any offense at all.  Nothing."

The Hatters shot just 35 percent from the floor and 33 percent from the free throw line.  The Eagles (15-3, 1-0) held a 41-22 advantage on the glass and a 13-0 edge in second chance points.

"We have to get a lot better," Bria said.  "I think we are playing the best team in our league (in FGCU).  I am encouraged by the fact that we know what we have to do, but we have to get a lot better."

Stetson will return home to face host USC Upstate at 1 p.m. Saturday.
