Hatters Earn AVCA Team Academic Award

DeLand, Fla. -- For the sixth time in program history, the Stetson University beach volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, the organization announced on Monday.

The award is presented annually to volleyball programs which maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. With a 3.5 team GPA in the 2017-18 academic year, Stetson was just one of 22 collegiate beach volleyball programs to be honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award.

The Hatters have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award six times since the program debuted in 2012. Stetson also had four members selected to the ASUN All-Academic Team this season, including ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year Rachel Noble, and 18 members named to the ASUN Honor Roll for maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better.

In 2018, the Hatters won a school-record 30 matches, won their fourth ASUN regular season and conference championships, and ranked 16th nationally in the final AVCA Coaches Poll.
