HC 27 - Brandon Brewer

Baseball Ricky Hazel, Associate AD

Brewer’s Baseball Life Led Him to Stetson

Brandon Brewer always knew he wanted to create a life for himself in the game of baseball.

The Hatters' volunteer assistant coach, who guests on this edition of Hatter Chatter … The Podcast, presented by Insight Credit Union, has been in and around the game his entire life. In fact, even before he was born, he had a connection to Stetson because his father played for former Hatters head coach Pete Dunn at Apopka High School.

Brewer was never the biggest or strongest player on any team he was a part of, but he always played with the most determination and grit. From a trip to Williamsport, Pa., to play in the Little League World Series, where he played for his father Bobby, to the University of West Florida, where he was an All-American, to being drafted by the Los Angeles Angels, Brewer always had to prove himself.

After his playing days came to an end, he spent time in the "real world," selling medical equipment, before the game called him back. When he was offered the chance to join the Stetson staff in 2017 in the unpaid, volunteer assistant, position, he never hesitated.

Since then, he has never looked back.

An integral part of the Hatters' coaching staff, Brewer has works with the Stetson infielders and helped the team to its best defensive season ever in 2018. He also lends a hand, working with the Hatters hitters, while also handling various duties in the office each day.

He hustles on the side, teaching private lessons to younger players, and you will hear the ping of bat meeting ball in the background as he talks about his baseball journey, looks back to what he saw during fall practice, and ahead to the 2021 season in this episode of Hatter Chatter … The Podcast, presented by Insight Credit Union.

This is the fourth in a five-part series of podcasts featuring members of the Stetson Baseball coaching staff. The final episode next week features Director of Baseball Operations Mark Michaud.
