Stetson University's baseball series scheduled for this weekend against North Florida has been canceled after student-athletes and staff within the program tested positive for the Covid-19 virus on Wednesday.
 
A total of seven student-athletes and one staff member tested positive and were immediately placed in isolation to prevent the spread of the virus. Those in isolation will remain separated from the rest of the team for 10 days.
 
In addition, 29 players and two staff members were isolated due to contact tracing, leaving the team without enough players to compete, according to ASUN minimum requirements. Those contact traced athletes have all tested negative but, as a precaution, but will remain in isolation to protect the wider Stetson community.
 
Those isolated for contact tracing will be tested again on Tuesday, April 13, and allowed to return to activities if test results come back negative.
 
As a result, the double-header scheduled for Tuesday, April 13, against FIU has also been canceled.
 
If tests results next week come back negative, the Hatters will return to action on Friday, April 16, as part of an ASUN South Division round-robin at Melching Field. The first game of the round-robin, between Jacksonville and FGCU, is scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. Stetson is scheduled to face North Florida at 6:30 p.m.
