Hatters Fall 67-50 to UMKC

Boca Raton, Fla. -- After posting two comeback wins in last week's Hatter Classic, Stetson could not make it three in a row as UMKC claimed a 67-50 victory over the Hatters Friday afternoon at the FAU Holiday Classic.

Stetson (8-7) shot just 27 percent in the second half and 32 percent for the game while UMKC (3-10) shot nearly 50 percent overall.

"It was probably our worst game of the year.  We did not play good at all on either end," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "I am just really disappointed in our effort.  I thought before Christmas break, we put a couple of games together, but we really took a step backwards today.

"To UMKC's credit, they came out and played a lot harder than we did."

The Hatters led 20-13 early, but an 18-2 UMKC run midway through the second quarter put the Roos in front for good.  Stetson cut the deficit to one in the third quarter but never pulled even.

McKenna Beach scored 16 points and Brittney Chambers scored 15 to lead the way for the Hatters.  Kennedi Colclough added eight points and five rebounds.

Samantha Waldron and India Johnson each scored 18 points to lead the Roos.

The Hatters will now face Delaware State in the FAU Holiday Classic consolation game at noon on Saturday.

Notes:
The Hatters hit six 3-pointers and extended their team 3-point field goal streak to 250 games ... Colclough extended her free throw streak to 13 makes in a row ... Stetson's 50 points scored was the third-lowest of the season, behind 39 vs. FSU and 45 vs. Providence.
