Hatters Fall to FGCU in Regular Season Finale

DeLand, Fla. -- Rose Julien led all scorers with 25 points as FGCU defeated Stetson 74-60 in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at the Edmunds Center.

The Hatters (17-13, 8-6 ASUN) earned the No. 3 seed for the conference tournament and will host No. 6 UNF in the ASUN Quarterfinals Friday night.  It will be the first-ever postseason meeting between the two schools.

Stetson led 35-32 after a spirited first half, but FGCU (27-4, 13-1) outscored the Hatters 42-25 in the second half to earn the victory.

"We didn't really sustain the game," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "I think the middle of the third quarter really hurt us.  I thought the difference in the game was the turnovers.  We turned it over and gave them easy baskets.  We have gotten better since the first time we played them, but we just have to keep getting better."

McKenna Beach led three Hatters in double figures with 18 points.  Michelle Pruitt scored 13 points and Jordan Tully scored 10.  Brittney Chambers scored nine points and became the sixth player in school history to score 500 points in a season.

The Hatters held a 34-31 advantage on the glass, but 24 turnovers led to 28 FGCU points.
