Former Louisville All-American Nikki Boltja is in her first season as an assistant coach with Stetson Lacrosse.
Boltja comes to Stetson after spending the last year as an assistant coach at Baldwin-Wallace in Berea, Ohio, while also serving as the girls’ head coach at Medina High School.
“I am thrilled to add Nikki Boltja to the Stetson Lacrosse program,” Stetson head coach Christy Leach said. “Nikki excelled on and off the field at the University of Louisville, which will make her a great mentor for our student-athletes. She will help our program move up in the Atlantic Sun Conference by assisting in every aspect of the game. I am looking forward to this year for our program and I know Nikki will make an immediate impact.”
At Baldwin-Wallace, Boltja helped lead the Yellowjackets to an 11-7 record while working in all facets of the program. At MHS, Boltja led the Bees to a 12-7 mark. Medina finished the season one win shy of an eighth consecutive state Final Four appearance. She spent the 2015 season as a volunteer assistant at her collegiate alma mater.
“I am so grateful and excited to join Christy and the Stetson Lacrosse family,” Boltja said. “Stetson is a great University and I am looking forward to bringing my passion for the game to De Land.”
As a player at Louisville, Boltja was a two-time All-American for the Cardinals, earning third-team honors in 2013 and first-team accolades in 2014. She was named as Louisville’s team MVP in each of her final three seasons, and helped lead the Cardinals to the 2014 NCAA Tournament and a top 10 ranking that season – both firsts for the program.
Boltja graduated from Louisville in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Human Performance.
