Garfield Blair scored 16 points and the Hatters headed into the holiday break with a 58-46 win at Savannah State.  It was Stetson's first road win of the year. 

Stetson trailed at the break 27-25 and Savannah State quickly built a five-point lead in the early minutes of the second half before the Hatters recovered.  Blair's three-point play with 13:59 to go tied the score at 35 and Gabe McMillen put Stetson ahead for good with a jumper from the elbow at 13:04.  Those baskets keyed a 14-4 run that put Stetson on top 42-37 with 8:13 to play. 

McMillen put in 17 points, his second-highest output of the year.  He was a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line and 6-9 from the field.  Tim Lang blocked four shots in helping the Hatters hold Savannah State to 37% shooting.  Stetson also posted their largest rebounding advantage of the year, 36-24. 

Early on it appeared the Hatters might run away with it.  A breakaway dunk from Blair at the 11:16 mark put Stetson ahead 14-6.  He soon picked up his second foul ?and Savannah State stepped of the defensive pressure to claw back into it.  Lazrius Coleman's jumper with 2:46 left in the half put the Tigers ahead and Chris Linton's buzzer-beating three-pointer gave Savannah State the two-point lead at the break.

Stetson improved to 4-8, while Savannah State dropped to 6-11.  It was only the second home loss of the year for the Tigers.  The Hatters will take a short break for the holidays, then return to action at home on December 30 against Skidmore College.
