After a bitter defeat on Tuesday, the Stetson Hatters close out their brief two-game home stand when they host Palm Beach Atlantic, 7 p.m., Thursday, at Edmunds Center.
Stetson (1-2) dropped a heartbreaking 53-52 decision to FIU when the Panthers scored the winning basket with 5.6 seconds left in the game. Freshman Divine Myles led the Hatters with 11 points.
Stetson enters the game riding a defensive streak of sorts after holding its first three opponents of the season to sub-40 percent shooting. That hasn't happened in any three game stretch since the 2006-07 season. The Hatters lead the Atlantic Sun Conference in field-goal percentage defense (.358). Stetson also leads the A-Sun in rebounding margin at plus-9.3.
The Hatters look to regroup against the NCAA Division II Sailfish, who opened their season last Sunday with a 70-65 win at Benedict (S.C.) College. The Sailfish are led by former Florida Gulf Coast head coach Dave Balza.
Single-game tickets start at just $8 for general admission, while seasons tickets for men's and women's basketball start at $75. Stetson faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid ID card.
Thursday's game is being televised once again on ESPN3. Robbie Aaron, Tony Battie, and Jim Tarabocchia will handle the play-by-play and color commentary duties, respectively.
Fans can also listen to the game on the radio on WSBB AM 1230 in New Smyrna Beach and AM 1490 in DeLand. The new tandem of Luke Mauro and Dan Panaggio will handle the broadcast duties.
