Former Hatter Julia Lozano Hired as Annual Fund Coordinator

Stetson University Assistant Athletics Director Mike McKercher announced today the hiring of former Stetson women's lacrosse standout Julia Lozano to fill the newly created position of Athletics Annual Fund Coordinator.

Lozano, a native of Key Largo, Fla., completed her playing career for the Hatters in 2017 and received her degree that spring in Art with a minor in Marketing. As a member of the Stetson lacrosse program she played in 58 games in her career, scoring 27 goals with three assists. She holds the school record for most caused turnovers with 36 in her career.

"It is very exciting to welcome a former Hatter to the External Operations team," McKercher said. "This is a newly-created position within the athletic department and will be essential to the growth of Hatter Athletic Fund. Julia has the right skills to flourish in this role and I look forward to watching her rise to the challenge."

As the Annual Fund Coordinator, Lozano will oversee the Hatter Athletic Fund (HAF) and is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of all aspects of the annual fund. She will assist with annual fund campaigns, coordinate and oversee the annual fund stewardship and benefit programs as well as create and maintain reports and tracking systems.

"Coming out of the lacrosse program here, I knew I wanted to stay involved with college athletics," Lozano said. "I never would have imagined being given the opportunity to do just that with my alma mater. I am so excited to be a part of the Stetson Athletics family, and I am honored to be able to give back to the university that had such a positive impact on my life."

Lozano will also have responsibilities relating the operational and administrative support of the Hatter Athletic Fund and will assist with a variety of special events on behalf of the Hatter Athletic Fund.

While still a student-athlete, Lozano got a taste for working in college athletics, working in both facilities and operations as well as in the equipment room. She also served internships with the American Sportfishing Association in Orlando and the Outdoor Sportsman Group in Stuart, Fla.

"In this position, I look forward to working with the entire athletic staff, the students, and the alumni, to grow this university, specifically its Division I athletics programs," Lozano said. "I can't wait to work with Mr. McKercher, who has been successful in positively impacting the growth and development of Stetson athletics.

"I hope to take what Mr. McKercher has already done and build on it. I want to increase funding for our programs and create strong ties between alumni, donors, and this university."

Since receiving her degree, Lozano has worked at Surety Bank in DeLand.
