Hatters Drop a Pair to Jacksonville

Maggie Fritts hits her eighth home run of the season

DeLand, Fla. – The Hatters' postseason hopes took a hit Friday as visiting Jacksonville swept Stetson in a doubleheader, 8-4 and 8-2 in the first two games of an ASUN series at Patricia Wilson Field.

Despite the losses, the Hatters (25-23, 3-13 ASUN) can still qualify for next week's ASUN Championship with a win on Saturday coupled with a North Florida loss at FGCU.

Friday, senior Maggie Fritts had five hits on the day including her eighth home run of the season to help lead the offense.  She also scored four runs.  Talli Sharp recorded four hits while Blake Crews, Devin Lewis, and Kasey Fava collected three hits apiece.

Fava drove in a team-high four runs.

Danielle Baker homered twice to lead the Dolphins (26-26, 7-9).

With rain in the forecast, Saturday's series finale has been moved up to a 1:30 p.m. start time.  The Hatters will honor their two seniors (Fritts and Chelsea Hostetler) prior to the game.
