Stetson University Deputy Director of Athletics Alicia Queally announced today the selection of Toni Oliverio as the Hatters' new Associate AD for Student Success and Academics. She started in her duties on January 10 and will arrive on campus on January 17.
 
Oliverio comes to Stetson from West Virginia University where she served as Associate Director of Student-Athlete Development. A native of Clarksburg, WV, Oliverio had served in various roles on the Mountaineers staff for more than 15 years.
 
"We are excited to have Toni join the Hatter team," Queally said. She brings a wealth of knowledge to us from WVU, and I know she will do a great job mentoring our experienced Academic Coordinators.
 
"Throughout the interview process, she connected well with both the search committee and our coaching staff members, while clearly articulating her vision for the future of our academic support area. She will be able to connect with our high achieving student-athletes, while also providing them with the tools to be at their best in the classroom each semester."
 
Most recently, Oliverio was responsible for student-athlete development and served as the tutor coordinator for the department. As associate director of student-athlete development, Oliverio was in charge of the day-to-day academic services for women's basketball, men's soccer and the rifle team, including assistance with time management and study skills, scheduling and registration, major selection, all tutor arrangements and university/Big 12/NCAA academic requirements.
 
Oliverio is also familiar with NCAA rules relating to eligibility for compliance and continuing eligibility purposes.

Prior to her time in the student-athlete development office she spent seven seasons as director of operations for the Mountaineer women's basketball program.
 
Prior to her time in Morgantown, Oliverio served as assistant athletic director at the West Virginia University Institute of Technology. In that position she assisted with the overall management of the WVU Tech athletic program including fundraising, external relations, facilities and academics for the NAIA Golden Bears.

Oliverio also served as the sports information director for the NAIA's Mid-South Conference where she was involved in all aspects of publicizing the conference and served as assistant sports information director and academic coordinator at WVU Tech.

She completed an internship in the Mid-South Conference's commissioner's office in 2006 where she played an integral role in the administration and coordination of the track and field, cheerleading, men's and women's basketball, softball and tennis championships. During that same time period, she worked in Louisville's intramural and recreational sports department.
 
From August 2004 until December 2005, Oliverio served as a graduate teaching and research assistant, also at Louisville. She was a sports information intern at Louisville in 2005, where she assisted in game management for women's basketball, men's tennis, softball and field hockey.

From 2001-03, she served as head women's tennis coach and assistant women's basketball coach at Salem International University, an NCAA Division II program.

Oliverio earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from West Liberty in 2001, where she was also a member of the women's basketball team from 1997-99. She received her master's degree in sport administration from Louisville in 2006.
 
Oliverio married Whitney Cayton in 2014. Together they have a stepson, Vaughn, and two daughters, Cayton and Olivia.
