Hatters Travel to the DMV for Two-Game Road Trip

DeLAND, Fla. — After a dominant 105-40 home-opening win over Warner, Stetson women's basketball heads north for a two-game road trip in the DMV, taking on Morgan State Sunday afternoon before visiting Towson on Tuesday evening.

The Hatters (1-1) have opened the season with two strong offensive showings, averaging 89.0 points per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field. Graduate guard Mary McMillan has been the engine of Stetson's attack, averaging 15.5 points and 8.0 assists through two contests. Cameron Thomas leads the team in scoring at 19.5 points per game, highlighted by her 27-point outburst at Alabama — the most by a Hatter in a season opener in more than two decades. Aleah Sorrentino has anchored the interior, averaging 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds, while Promise Keshi and Candela Garcia-Escribano have provided size, energy, and scoring balance on both ends.

Scouting Morgan State

Sunday's matchup marks the home opener for the Bears, who began their season with a road loss to Virginia earlier this week. Senior guard Gabrielle Johnson led the team with nine points — all from beyond the arc — in that contest.

Morgan State was selected fifth in the 2025-26 MEAC Preseason Poll after finishing 13-17 last season. The Bears return plenty of experience, headlined by Ja'la Bannerman, a First Team Preseason All-MEAC selection, and Jael Butler, a Third Team Preseason pick at center.

This will be just the second all-time meeting between the two programs. Stetson won the previous matchup 56-48 in DeLand on Dec. 17, 2023. The Bears are led by Head Coach Nadine Domond, who took over the program in April after a standout playing career in the WNBA and a successful collegiate coaching journey.

Scouting Towson

Following Sunday's contest, the Hatters will remain in Maryland to face Towson on Tuesday evening at SECU Arena. The Tigers (1-1) opened their season with a loss to Virginia Tech before rebounding with a commanding win over Frostburg State.

Towson was picked seventh in the 2025-26 CAA Preseason Poll after a 12-10 campaign last season, which included six wins over their final ten games. The Tigers bring back five key players from that group, led by India Johnston, a Preseason All-CAA selection who averaged 12.5 points and 2.5 assists per game last year.

This season, junior guards Zoli Khalil and Thalia Shepard have paced the offense, both averaging over 13 points per game. In the frontcourt, Kayla Morris and freshman Aidan Langley have each contributed six rebounds per game, helping Towson maintain its reputation as one of the CAA's top rebounding teams (38.2 per game in 2024-25). The Tigers are under the direction of Head Coach Laura Harper, now in her fourth season at the helm.

Stetson and Towson have met once before — a 77-69 Hatter victory on Dec. 28, 2000.
