2004: Made seven starts and 12 relief appearances … tied for second of the team with seven wins … Earned Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete game three hitter vs. #20 Florida Atlantic (Apr. 3) … Struck out nine FAU batters in that game … Became Stetson’s first pitcher of the week in three years … Also went the distance in a nine-inning complete game vs. Bethune Cookman (Apr. 22) … Struck out eight in six innings vs. Northwestern (Mar. 23) … Picked up the save in the season-opening victory over VMI (Feb. 13) , allowing no runs and one hit over four innings and striking out five … Ranked eighth in the A-Sun in opponents BA (.255). 

2003: Made six starts and 13 relief appearances … Opponents batted a team-low .241 against him … Stetson went 6-0 in Abel’s six starts … Was 3-0 with a 3.09 ERA as a starter … Saw early season relief appearances against Oklahoma State, Maryland, and #2 Rice … Allowed two hits and no runs in five innings in a start vs. Creighton (Mar. 12) … Also worked five innings in a start vs. Bethune Cookman (Apr. 1), Earning the victory … Allowed four hits and one unearned run, while striking out four in that game … Pitched seven innings and picked up the victory vs. Florida A&M (Apr. 15), allowing just two runs and six hits while striking out six … Pitched three innings of relief vs. Jacksonville (Apr. 18) … Pitched six innings in a start at USF (Apr. 22), striking out a career-high 10 batters en route to a victory … Worked 4.2 innings in a start vs. East Carolina (May 31) in the NCAA Atlanta Regional. 

2002: Made three starts and 14 relief appearances … Pitched a five-hit, complete-game shutout against Rhode Island (Mar. 11) … Also fanned a career high eight batters in that game … Became the first Hatter freshman since 1992 to pitch a nine-inning complete game shutout … Also started against Charleston Southern (Feb.17) and Penn State ( Mar. 5) … Had a 16 inning scoreless streak from Mar. 5 to Apr. 20 … Struck out four in 2.2 scoreless innings of relief vs. South Florida (Apr. 17) … Pitched a scoreless inning to earn his first career save at Jacksonville (May 5) … Did not allow a run in two-thirds of an inning vs. USF in the NCAA Tournament (June 1). 

High School: Was 9-1 with a 1.30 ERA and 125 strikeouts as a junior at Boone HS … Also batted .320 with nine home runs and 50 RBI … Earned second team All-State and first team all-district, all-county, and all-area recognition … Helped lead his team to the district 6A championship by throwing a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts against Colonial … Went 4-4 with a 1.20 ERA and 90 strikeouts as a senior … Also lettered for four years in swimming.
