Pat Leach begins his first season as an assistant coach with the Hatters baseball team. In addition to serving as the first base coach, he will be responsible for coaching the outfielders and assisting with all other facets of the program.

Prior to coming to DeLand, Leach was a professional instructor, camp coordinator and head coach at the Dallas Baseball Academy in Addison, Texas. His collegiate coaching experience includes one season (2006) as assistant coach at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas. In addition to his duties as assistant coach he was the hitting coach, a dorm supervisor and the field manager. From 2001 to 2005 Leach was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for Daytona Beach Community College. While he was there the team won two conference championships and was ranked in the top ten three seasons including #1 in 2003. Leach also spent the 2000 season as a student assistant coach with New Mexico State University.

Leach coached in the highly competitive Alaska Collegiate Baseball League in the Summer of 2003. Two summers (2004, 2005) as a head coach and general manager of The Daytona Beach Barracudas of the FCSL (Florida Collegiate Baseball League) for 2 summers. Leach made two trips to the Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, NM with 18 and under DBAT select summer teams.

Leach was a scholarship athlete pitching for the NMSU Aggies baseball team for two years. He was named All-Big West in 1998 and earned recognition on the NMSU Academic Athletic Wall of Honor in 1998 and 1999. Coming out of Rider High School in Wichita Falls, Texas he earned a scholarship to play for North Central Texas Community College. At NCTCC he was named First Team All-Conference as a DH his first two seasons and added First Team All-Conference Pitcher status his sophomore season.
