Washington & Lee, 1996 / 8th Season

Assistant coach Jon Coffman begins his eighth season at Stetson University. His duties include working with the guards, opponent scouting, fund raising, camps, and coordinating recruiting.

Coffman started and oversees one of the largest team campsin the state of Florida which has drawn schools from every corner of the state. He also runs the largest Elite Camp in the state which has upgraded the Hatters’ recruiting efforts in the state of Florida..

Coffman joined the Hatters after serving one season on the staff at College of Charleston. He helped guide the Cougars to a 22-7 record and the Southern Conference regular season title, a 13-0 record at home and impressive non-conference victories over Texas Christian, Duquesne, Richmond and Delaware. During the 2000-01 season, the Cougars were ranked the top mid-major team in the country for a large part of the year and rose as high as 33rd in the country in the AP Poll.

Before joining the College of Charleston, Coffman spent two seasons as the top assistant at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Va. He served as recruiting coordinator and also oversaw weight training, guard workouts and fund raising. Coffman also served as the executive director of the Emory & Henry athletic booster club.

Prior to his basketball coaching career, Coffman worked in finance for two years in San Francisco.

A 1996 graduate of Washington & Lee University, Coffman earned a bachelor’s degree in both Economics and Environmental Science. He was also a three-year starter for the Generals basketball team and captain of the 1995-96 squad. He still holds three school records, including the mark for most three-pointers in a game (7).

Along with Derek Waugh, Coffman prepped at Marist School in Atlanta. As a senior, he helped them to the Elite Eight and a 26-2 record.
