Chris Deatrick is in her third year as head crew coach at Stetson University.  She manages and oversees all aspects of both the men’s and women’s crew programs.

Prior to her arrival at Stetson in the summer of 2004, Deatrick spent three years (2001-04) as the head women’s crew coach at Temple University. While there she helped grow the program from 18 to 34 student-athletes and also saw in increase in her team GPA.  In 2004 her Women’s Varsity 8 team rowed to a sixth place finish in the national finals of the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta.

From 1993-2001, Deatrick was an assistant coach at the University of Central Florida. She served for six years as the head novice coach, where she helped lead the team to three Dad Vail titles, as well as a second-place finish and a third-place finish. She also served for one year as the head varsity lightweight coach, where her squad was ranked in the National Coaches Poll all season. Overall, Deatrick helped the UCF women’s rowing team to 12 state championships during her coaching tenure.

A four-year member of the UCF women’s rowing team, Deatrick earned a gold medal at the Dad Vail Regatta in 1991 competing in the Varsity Lightweight 8. She also earned three medals at regional competition and two gold medals at state championships. She graduated from UCF in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts.

Deatrick has also served as the Southeast Representative to the US Rowing Lightweight Committee (1995-97) and as treasurer of the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (1998-01). She is a member of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association and a level III certified coach.

She and her husband Paul have a son, Joe, age nine.
