Ryan Worth begins his second season as an assistant rowing coach at Stetson.

Worth comes to Stetson from the Oak Ridge Rowing Association in Oak Ridge, Tenn., where he served as Head Coach and Boathouse Manager.

“Ryan is simply one of the hardest working men I know,” Stetson head coach Mark Wilson said. “But along with a fantastic energy he couples that with knowledge which comes with experience. I am eager to have Ryan work with our team and have him share his strong work ethic and abilities on a daily basis. He has a lot to share and I feel confident the team will respond very positively to him.”

Worth has a wealth of experience and knowledge that will be invaluable at Stetson. He began rowing in high school while erging in rehab for a football injury. His senior year Worth captained his rowing team at CJR and finished ninth in the Men's 2x at Junior Nationals. He continued rowing at the University of Tennessee -- where he served as the novice team captain -- and then for two years as the Club President. While rowing at Tennessee he sculled and sweep rowed and was a double medal winner at the Inaugural U.S. Rowing Collegiate National Championship.

“I’m really excited to be here,” said Worth. “I think Stetson is going to be a fun community to be a part of. It’s a smaller school with prestigious academics. The rowing program is going places here and this is a beautiful place for it.”

Worth is a past Concept 2 World Record holder in the 20-29 year old age category for cumulative meters erged in a 24-hour period. In 2011, Worth rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, crossing from Morocco to Barbados with 15 others on the 13-meter catamaran, Big Blue. Worth and his crew earned recognition for that feat in the Guinness Book of World Records as the first to cross an ocean in a catamaran, and the largest crew to ever row an ocean.

Worth is a U.S. Rowing Level III coach, American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, Swiftwater Rescue Technician, and Wilderness First Responder.
