Biography
PRIOR TO STETSON
- Rybny rowed for Mount Saint Joseph Academy under coaches Megan Kennedy, Alanna McCloy and Keira McCloy.
- She competed in several major regattas during her high school career, including the Head of the Charles Regatta and the USRowing U-19 Identification Camp in 2024.
- Rybny placed 23rd out of 75 competitors in the openweight category at the 2024 Center City Slam indoor 2K race.
- She competed as the stroke seat for her school’s 2V4+ boat at the 2023 Youth Mid-Atlantic Championships, helping the crew advance to the finals.
- Rybny earned a bronze medal in the JV 4+ at the 2022 Bill Braxen Memorial Regatta.
- She also competed at the Mercer Fall Classic, Head of the Schuylkill Regatta and Kings Head Regatta during her prep rowing career.
- Outside of rowing, Rybny competed in junior varsity field hockey for three years and participated in gymnastics for 10 years at the club/travel level.
PERSONAL
- Anna Rybny is from Flourtown, Pennsylvania.
- She attended Mount Saint Joseph Academy.
- She began her rowing journey in a boat nicknamed “The Trench,” which she describes as the foundation that shaped her identity as both an athlete and teammate.
- Outside of rowing, Rybny also competed in field hockey and gymnastics during her prep career.
- She is interested in pursuing a future in either elementary education or forensic science and technology.
- Rybny values the camaraderie and teamwork that rowing provides and sought a college environment that emphasized both academic and athletic excellence.
