Rod Kenney begins his seventh year as the assistant coach for the Stetson women’s soccer program.
The 26-year coaching veteran joined the Hatters after serving as the interim head coach and assistant coach for the women’s team at the University of North Florida from 1997-2001. While at UNF, he twice helped lead the Lady Ospreys to the quarterfinals of the Division II National Championship.
From 1990-98, Kenney also coached the KAOS, an amateur women’s team. While with the squad, the KAOS posted a 112-26 record, won four Lowcountry Tournament Championships and won one Sunshine Games Championship.
Kenney also racked up a 245-48 record in 11 years as the Orange Park High School women’s head coach. He led Orange Park to seven district championships, 10 regional appearances, two regional championships, and two Final Four appearances.
During his career, Kenney has coached the Florida High School All Stars twice, has been the head coach of the Florida Women’s Amateur Select team, has served as an administrator for the Florida State Select Men’s team, and has acted as the Director of Player Personnel for the Jacksonville Jade.
He has also received numerous awards including being named the Florida Star Conference Coach of the Year nine times, the 6A Florida High School Girl’s Soccer Coach of the Year, and the 1996 Florida High School Girl’s Coach of the Year.
Kenney began coaching in 1978 for his son’s youth soccer team.
