After guiding the women's team to back-to-back ASUN Championships, Travis Sandlant was elevated to the Director of Tennis at Stetson.

Named the head coach of the Stetson women's tennis program on September 13, 2016, Travis Sandlant enters his ninth year leading the Hatters for the 2025-26 season. Sandlant has guided the women's team to a 68-48 record since his arrival to DeLand and owns an overall 215-119 career dual match record in 12 seasons as a head coach overall, previously coaching six years at East Tennessee State.

In all, Sandlant has twice been named the ASUN Coach of the Year (2013 at ETSU and 2022 at Stetson), has guided his teams to four NCAA Championships (three at ETSU and one at Stetson), four ASUN Conference titles (three at ETSU and one at Stetson) and two ASUN regular season titles (one at each school).

Sandlant has led the Hatters to four winning seasons, which included their historic 2022 season that saw him named the 2022 Wilson ITA Southeast Region Coach of the Year along with the ASUN Coach of the Year. Stetson claimed its first ASUN Championship title in 33 years, its first ASUN regular-season title since 1989 (fourth overall), its first NCAA Division I Championship berth, a school record 22 wins (second-most ever for a team in the ASUN), a school-best win percentage (.916), a school-record nine-match win streak and its first time ever ranked in the ITA National Rankings (four times, Feb. 23, 62; April 27, 64; May 4, 61; Final, May 25, 60).

During the season, Hatters earned three ASUN Player of the Week honors (Nadejda Maslova, 2x; Anais Gabriel, 1x) and then six picked up a total of 11 postseason honors that included two First Team members (Maslova and Alanna DiFrancesco), three Second Team members (Gabriel, Cheri Darley and Noa Cohen), two All-Freshman (DiFrancesco and Darley), one All-Academic (Elodie Foster) and two All-Tournament members (Cohen and Darley) and the Championship's MVP in Cohen.

In his second season at Stetson, Sandlant led the Hatters to a 13-8 overall record and a berth into the 2018 ASUN Championship final, while the team posted a 12-9 record in 2019 and an 8-5 mark in the Covid-shortened 2020 season.

Sandlant came to DeLand after spending nine highly successful seasons at former ASUN Conference rival East Tennessee State, including the previous six as women’s head coach. Sandlant guided the Buccaneers to three NCAA Tournaments (2011, 2014, 2016) as head coach and to one trip (2009) as an assistant coach, winning three conference tournament and regular-season championships in the process.

The 2013 ASUN Coach of the Year, Sandlant owned a 147-71 career dual match record with the Buccaneers. He coached seven players to ITA national individual rankings during his tenure at ETSU, including a team-high ranking of No. 51. He has earned eight victories over ITA-ranked opponents and led the Bucs to a high ranking of No. 61.

As a collegiate player Sandlant was a three-time All-American at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Va., as well as two-time Appalachian Athletic Conference player of the year. He later played at ETSU and helped lead the Buccaneers to the 2007 ASUN championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

A native of Werribee, Australia, Sandlant studied and played at the prestigious Australia Institute of Sport, and was Australian High School champion as a junior. He earned Bachelor’s (’07, Interdisciplinary Studies) and Master’s (’09, Sports Management) degrees from ETSU.
