Ethan Shoemaker begins his fourth season as an assistant coach at Stetson.
Shoemaker comes to Stetson after spending the previous five years as head coach of Space Coast Crew in Satellite Beach, Fla.
"We're thrilled to have Ethan join our team," head coach Katie Thurstin said. "He had amazing success growing the program at Space Coast and we look forward to him doing the same here at Stetson."
Shoemaker is looking forward to his first foray into the collegiate coaching ranks.
"I am impressed with the support the administration has given the program and their desire to see it grow and become better," Shoemaker said. "That's what I want to be a part of: a team which is going to be fast, and Stetson is on that track. I'm looking forward to helping the Hatters make history."
With Space Coast Crew, Shoemaker was responsible for recruiting and training student-athletes, helping triple membership during his time with the club. Shoemaker saw his teams gain unprecedented success racing at the state, regional and national levels. In 2017, Space Coast Crew finished third at the Youth National Championships in the Men's Youth 4x.
"Ethan's rowing experience rounds out the program's staff excellently," Thurstin said. "We now have a club collegiate rower, a walk-on collegiate rower and a junior recruited collegiate rower. Collectively we'll be able to meet the needs of our student-athletes and guide them through the collegiate athlete experience."
Prior to his time with Space Coast Crew, Shoemaker coached with Penn AC Junior Gold, Westerville Crew HP Camps, and U.S. Junior National Team Development camps.
Shoemaker is a 2012 graduate of Marietta College, where he was a four-year member of the varsity crew team and team captain.
