Melching Field at Conrad Park
One of the most picturesque and fan-friendly college baseball stadiums in the nation, Melching Field at Conrad Park has served as the home of Stetson Baseball since 1999. The ballpark has provided the backdrop for conference championships, NCAA postseason baseball, historic individual milestones and generations of memorable Hatter moments.

A Home for Hatter Baseball Since 1999
Built at a cost of $4.5 million, Melching Field was the result of a joint effort between Stetson University, the DeLand Sports Redevelopment Association and the City of DeLand. Constructed on the site of the former Conrad Park, the stadium officially opened on Feb. 12, 1999.
The Hatters christened their new home with a 4-3 victory over Louisville in front of an overflow crowd of 2,874. Since then, "The MAC" has developed into one of Stetson Baseball's greatest assets and one of the most recognizable college baseball venues in Florida.
A Historic Season
2018 NCAA Regional Champions
The 2018 season produced one of the greatest chapters in Melching Field history. Led by future Major League Baseball first-round pick Logan Gilbert, Stetson posted an extraordinary 32-3 home record and was selected as one of 16 NCAA Regional host sites for the first time.
The Hatters defeated Hartford and Oklahoma State during the DeLand Regional to capture the first NCAA Regional championship in program history and advance to the NCAA Super Regional round for the first time.
Championship Baseball in DeLand
Melching Field has been a frequent home for ASUN postseason baseball. The facility hosted the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament from 2002-09 before the championship returned to DeLand in 2012. More recently, Melching Field has served as a site for the ASUN Baseball Championship in each season since 2023.
Stetson capitalized on that postseason setting by capturing back-to-back ASUN titles in 2024 and 2025, earning consecutive NCAA Regional appearances and bringing the program's total to 20 NCAA postseason appearances.
Milestones at The MAC
Historic Moments
2002: Stetson recorded its 100th victory at Melching Field during Atlantic Sun Tournament play against Troy State.

2003: The Hatters tied a school record with 29 home victories and put together a 13-game home winning streak during March and April.

2006: Legendary head coach Pete Dunn earned his 1,000th career victory with an 11-inning, 6-5 win over Mercer during the A-Sun Tournament. Two days later, Stetson captured its second consecutive conference tournament championship.

2018: Stetson went 32-3 at home, hosted an NCAA Regional for the first time and advanced to the first Super Regional in program history.

2024: A record crowd of 2,986 watched the Hatters defeat No. 4 Florida, 7-4.

2024-25: Stetson captured consecutive ASUN Championships and advanced to back-to-back NCAA Regionals.
A Destination for Hatter Fans
More than half a million fans have passed through the gates since Melching Field opened, with Stetson regularly ranking among the nation's better-supported college baseball programs.

Fan-Friendly Design
Melching Field features permanent seating for 2,500 spectators, with grass berms capable of accommodating approximately 500 additional fans. A full-service concessions area greets visitors entering from Woodland Boulevard, and the stadium is fully ADA accessible with excellent sightlines throughout the grandstand.
Stadium Technology
Built for College Baseball
A video scoreboard debuted in left field in 2012, featuring a message center and graphics board complemented by a $150,000 sound system. Stadium lighting provides illumination suitable for televised night games.
The press box includes two VIP viewing rooms, two radio booths, a television broadcast room and a dedicated working press area.
Team Facilities
Stetson Baseball's coaches' offices are housed inside Melching Field along with a pro-style locker room and the Carlton Family Room, a player lounge designed to provide the Hatters with additional space away from the field.
The facility also includes the Brian Snyder Hitting Pavilion, a covered batting and training area located beyond the right-field corner.
The Melching Legacy
Named in Honor of R. Dale Melching '44
Stetson alumna Luella Nichols Melching donated $500,000 to name the field in honor of her late husband, R. Dale Melching.
A member of the Stetson Class of 1944, R. Dale Melching competed in both varsity baseball and basketball and was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 1978. Luella Melching was a Hatter cheerleader during her years at Stetson and remained a lifelong supporter of Stetson Athletics.
The Melching family's support also played a leadership role in the development of the $1.6 million Wilson Athletic Center, which was dedicated in 1997. The red brick, stucco and green-roof design of Melching Field was intentionally created to complement the architecture of the Stetson campus.

Hatter Fans Code of Conduct
Stetson fans are encouraged to wear green and white, enthusiastically support the Hatters and help create a championship experience built on integrity, sportsmanship and respect.
Fans are expected to represent Stetson University, the ASUN Conference and the NCAA with honor and respect; support student-athletes, coaches and officials in a positive manner; treat visiting teams and fans with courtesy; refrain from abusive, discriminatory, vulgar or intimidating language and behavior; refrain from throwing objects or entering the playing field; and serve as positive representatives of the Hatter community.
Failure to comply with the fan code of conduct may result in a warning or removal from the venue.
Tickets & Entry
The game-day ticket office is located near the main gate and opens one hour prior to first pitch. Tickets may not be resold at Melching Field. Lost or stolen tickets are not the responsibility of venue management. Additional tickets may be purchased at the ticket office when available. Admission is complimentary for children ages 2 and under. All ticket sales are subject to the venue's no-cash-refund policy.

Gates: The main gate opens one hour prior to first pitch.

Tobacco: Smoking, electronic cigarettes and other tobacco products are prohibited in Stetson University facilities and surrounding University-controlled property.

Parking: Season parking passes and public game-day parking are available on a limited basis around Melching Field. Accessible parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

ADA Seating: Accessible and wheelchair seating is located along the concourse. Guests needing ADA seating may contact the Athletics Ticket Office at (386) 738-HATS (4287).

Guest Services: Event staff and ushers are located throughout the concourse level.

Lost & Found: Lost-and-found assistance is available on the main concourse at the marketing table. Call (386) 822-8111 or Stetson Public Safety at (386) 822-7300 for assistance.

Political Materials & Solicitation: Distribution of political materials, promotional items, solicitation and unauthorized vending are prohibited on University-owned or leased property.
Weather Safety
Inclement Weather
Public-address announcements will provide updates when severe weather approaches Melching Field. If lightning is detected within eight miles of the venue, play will be stopped immediately. Competition may resume 30 minutes after the last lightning strike within the eight-mile radius. Fans may be asked to leave the venue and seek shelter in their vehicles during delays and should retain their tickets for re-entry.
