Jacksonville, Fla. -- The Hatters lost a hard fought match at UNF arena against the Osprey of North Florida, losing in four games, 20-30, 19-30, 30-27, and 18-30. Stetson has a seaon record of 5-16, 0-6 A-Sun play and the Osprey move to 13-13, 4-1 A-Sun action.
The Hatters were led by strong performances by Sophomore Rebecca Orzechowicz (Miami, Fla.), who acquired a double-double fo rthe match, ending with 17 kills and 13 digs. Junior Gina Iacona (Boca Raton, Fla.) followed suit adding 11 kills for the match. Stetson played good defense with five players getting double figures in digs. Junior Karla Readshaw led the defensive charge with 23 digs.
After being out-hit .060 - .320 in game one and -.051 - .353 in game two, the Hatters came out attacking for game three. The Hatters hit .327 with just four errors. Orzechowicz led game three with seven kills and Stetson took the win 30-27.
Game four North Florida came out ready to get momentum back. Strong hitting performances and tough defense led the Osprey to win 30-18 and take the match
For UNF, senior libero, Tara Taylor tallied 18 digs to break her own season-high record.
The Hatters next six games are all at home, starting with conference opponent ETSU on Friday, at 7:00 pm.
