Marcus Echtler won for the fourth time in four days in three sets over #38 Adrian Prpic in the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Thursday. Echtler, ranked #75 in the country, posted a 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 victory. He will face the top seed and #2-ranked player in the country, John Isner this afternoon.
"Marcus played outstanding again today against a very good and experienced player," said Head Coach Pierre Pilote.
Thursday was his first match in the Main Draw. Echtler was a straight-sets winner in all three of his qualifying matches, but found himself behind early against Prpic. The Stetson junior dropped the first set 6-7 and then fell behind 0-3 in the second set. However, Echtler rebounded to take that set 7-6 and cruised through the third, 6-1.
"Marcus did a great job to fight back after getting down 3-0 in the second set and then dominating in the third set," said Pilote.
Echtler will now play the top seed in the tournament, John Isner of Georgia. He is the #2-ranked player in the country and the defending champion of the ITA Tournament. Isner defeated Peirre Mouillon of Cal earlier today in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
"Marcus told me he is really looking forward to the challenge of facing Isner," said Pilote.
