Stetson’s Verlaguet Advances to Round of 32 at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Stetson's Alexandre Verlaguet and Katsiaryna Tuliakova are representing the Hatters this week at the 2025 ITA Men's and Women's All-American Championships. Verlaguet has made program history, becoming the first Hatter on the men's side to qualify for the Round of 32 after winning his first three matches.

Verlaguet opened play with a three-set victory over Theodoris Mitsakos (SUNY), 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, before outlasting Washington's Soham Purohit in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(1). In the Round of 64, he continued his strong form with back-to-back 6-2 sets over Hamza El Amine (Louisville) to advance to the Round of 32, where he is slated to face Evan Burnett of Texas.

"This was a huge weekend for Alex. He had one of the biggest wins of his collegiate career today before backing it up to qualify. It's a huge accomplishment for him and a first for the men's tennis program," said head coach Travis Sandlant.

On the women's side, Tuliakova fell in her opening-round match to Vanderbilt's Sophia Webster, 6-3, 6-2, and then dropped her consolation match to Memphis' Sofiia Mykhailets, 6-3, 6-3.

"Unfortunately, Katia didn't play her best tennis this weekend against a high level of competition. We'll go back to the practice court and find the form we're looking for," Sandlant added.
