Hatters Fall to No. 19 Florida in NCAA First Round

ORLANDO, Fla. — Stetson (14-7) fell to No. 19 Florida (17-13) 4-0 on Friday at the USTA National Campus in the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

Despite the result, the Hatters earned a doubles victory at the No. 3 position and capped a historic season that included the program's first ASUN Championship and NCAA berth.

Florida claimed the doubles point with wins on courts two and one. Pablo Perez Ramos and Adhithya Ganesan opened with a 6-1 victory over Santiago Padilla Cote and Christian Kuehne at No. 2 doubles. Stetson answered at No. 3, where Xavier Sarda Marti and Marc Saura secured a 6-2 win over Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini. The doubles point was decided on court one, as Florida's 14th-ranked duo of Henry Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn edged Kartik Mandla and Alexandre Verlaguet, 7-5.

In singles, Florida secured the match with victories at the No. 6, No. 5, and No. 4 positions. Kevin Edengren put the Gators ahead 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-4 win over James Lorenzetti at No. 6 singles. No. 75 Henry Jefferson followed with a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Marc Saura at No. 5. The match was clinched at No. 4 singles, where No. 63 Pablo Perez Ramos defeated Santiago Padilla Cote 7-5, 6-0.

The remaining matches were left unfinished following the clincher. At the time play was halted, Florida held leads on the remaining courts.
