DeLand, Fla. - Former Stetson University shortstop Brian Bocock will represent the U.S. Team in July's XM Satellite Radio All Star Futures Game. Bocock is one of 50 minor league prospects who will participate in the event, which kicks off Major League Baseball's All Star weekend.Â
Â
Bocock is currently playing for the San Jose Giants, a high Single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The 22 year-old is batting .287 with 29 stolen bases.Â
Â
Following a stellar campaign as junior in 2006, Bocock was selected by the Giants in the ninth round of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. He batted .323 in his three years at Stetson and left with the sixth-highest assist total in school history.Â
Â
The Futures Game takes place Sunday July 8th at AT&T Park in San Francisco and features the U.S. Team vs. the World Team. It will be broadcast live at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Major League Baseball, in conjunction with all 30 clubs, works with Baseball America and MLB.com to determine the players invited to the kick-off event for All-Star weekend.Â
