Stetson starting pitcher Robbie Donovan (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) surrendered two runs in the first inning. After retiring the first two batters he gave up a base hit and a walk, and then hit a batter to load the bases. Shane Simpkins (Paintville, Ky.) delivered a 2-RBI single to right field to give the Bisons an early lead.
The Hatters answered with a run in the bottom half of the 1st. Sean Emory (Miami, Fla.) doubled to left field, moved to third on a grounder, and scored when Jeremy Cruz (Miami, Fla.) singled to left.
Stetson scored two runs in the 4th on a Robert Crews (Port Charlotte, Fla.) home run and a single run in the 6th but it was not enough to hold back the Bisons. Crews was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored on the afternoon.
Lipscomb put together 3-run innings in the 3rd, 5th, and 6th innings, and a single run in the 8th to make the final score 11-4.
Jeremy Cruz was 3-for-4 on the day to finish 2008 with a .404 batting average. Justin Bass also finished the season at .404. It is the first time in Atlantic Sun Conference history that two players on the same team finished with batting averages above .400.
With today's loss Stetson completed its season at 26-33 overall and was 1-2 in the A-Sun Tournament. Lipscomb raised its record to 30-28 overall and 2-1 in tournament play.
