Spartanburg, S.C. - On a damp and rainy Friday night in Spartanburg, South Carolina Stetson's Fredrik Brustad (Oslo, Norway) scored with just under 10 minutes to play to even up the score at 1-1 against USC Upstate. When regulation time ended with the teams still tied, the game officials deemed the field unplayable and declared the game a draw.
Although the Hatters controlled the field of play for the majority of the game it was the Spartans that struck first. Just 21:29 into the game Maurice Beggs tallied the game's first goal with an assist from Timo Foerster.
It wasn't until 80:37 that Brustad tied the game with his third goal of the season on an assist by Robert Hodge (Devon, England). Hodge delivered a header into the 6-yard box to Brustad who put it home from two yards out.
The Hatters were pressing forward most of the night in search of an equalizer. Stetson finished with a 16-9 advantage in shots and an 8-1 lead in corner kick opportunities.
Stetson, ranked 8th in the NSCAA South Region poll is now 9-1-2 overall and 3-1-1 in A-Sun play. USC Upstate raised its mark to 4-5-2 and 1-1-2 in conference.
