#10 Florida State Hands Hatters Historic Defeat

Tallahassee, Fla. - An already painful season for the Stetson women's basketball team (0-3) got even worse Friday evening as 10th-ranked Florida State (3-0) dismantled the Hatters 101-35 at the Tucker Events Center.  The 66-point margin of defeat stands as the second-largest in program history with the 35 points marking the third-lowest scoring output in team history as well.  Sophomore guard Lyllique Roman (Poinciana, Fla.) provided the lone bright spot in the shellacking with a career-high 12 points.

FSU utterly obliterated Stetson in every phase of the game, out-rebounding the Hatters 45-22, collecting 20 steals, forcing a stunning 36 Stetson turnovers and allowing the Hatters zero second chance points.  Alysha Harvin scored 19 points to lead five Seminoles in double figures.  All-American candidate Jacinta Monroe tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds while Alexia DeLuzio had 16 points and six assists off the bench.  Courtney Ward (13 points) and Cierra Bravard (12 points) were the other Seminoles in double figures.  FSU is ranked 10th in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and 13th in the Associated Press poll.

Roman shot five for 11 from the floor, including two for four from beyond the arc, en route to her career scoring high.  Tonight's margin of defeat is second only to the 110-32 loss suffered at Tennessee Temple during the 1975-76 campaign.

The Hatters are back in action Wednesday at Savannah State.  The game tips off at 7 p.m. at Tiger Arena.
