Box Score DeLand, Fla.- James Madison defeated Stetson 9-5 in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader on Melching Field. Stetson fell to 2-9 on the season while the Dukes raised their record to 7-4.
Freshman Alex Hudak (Sorrento, Fla.) led the Hatters with three hits, while Jacob deGrom was 2-for-2 with a walk. Jeremy Cruz (Miami, Fla.) drove in two runs with a double in the fifth inning. James Madison had three players each with three hits in the game.
David Burns (Seminole, Fla.) took the loss for the Hatters to go to 0-2 on the season. James Weiner (Charlottesville, Va.) picked up the win and is now 1-1. Trevor Knight (Charlottesville, Va.) was credited with his first save of the season.
