DeLand, Fla. ? The Atlantic Sun Conference regular season co-champion Stetson women's tennis team (13-7) ended its dual match season today with a narrow 4-3 home loss to Marquette (16-8) at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.  Sophomore Unnati Purushotham (Hyderabad, India) was a double winner for the Hatters.

Purushotham teamed with junior Valentina Galbarini (Montevideo, Uruguay) to defeat Paola Calderon and Kylie Moore 8-2 at #1 doubles before picking up one of Stetson's three points on the day with a tough 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Christina Ruiz at #3 singles.  Junior Breanna Atkinson (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Shannon Gunning (Boca Raton, Fla.) also won singles matches for the Hatters.  Atkinson beat Olga Fischer 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at the #2 slot while Gunning sunk Rachael Hush 6-3, 6-2 at the #5 position.

The Golden Eagles won the #2 and #3 doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles play, where they earned the necessary three wins to take the match victory.

Stetson now turns its attention to the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships later this week in Johnson City, Tenn.  The Hatters will be the #1 seed and have earned a bye through Thursday's quarterfinal round; they will take on either fourth-seeded Campbell or fifth-seeded Belmont in the semifinals on Friday.
