DeLand, Fla. ? The Atlantic Sun Conference office announced Monday that Stetson's Andy Mauldin has been named the A-Sun Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 10, 2009. The senior from Gainesville, Florida earned the honor after leading the Hatters to a 4-1 win in Friday's series opener at Melching Field against ETSU. The victory clinched a spot in the upcoming A-Sun Championship Tournament in DeLand May 20-23.

Mauldin pitched the Hatters' first complete game of the season. He tossed nine complete innings allowing just one run and striking out a career-high 11 batters. After the Buccaneers tied the game with a run in the third inning, Mauldin did not allow another hit and finished the game by striking out the side in the ninth inning.

Stetson swept the series with ETSU and now stands in a three-way tie with Belmont and Lipscomb for the second-seed in the championship heading into the season's final weekend. After Tuesday's final home game against UCF, Stetson will complete the regular season with a three game series at Florida Gulf Coast.
