DeLand, Fla. ? Andy Mauldin (Gainesville, Fla.) delivered the Stetson staff's first complete game of the season and led the Hatters to a 6-1 win over East Tennessee State Friday night on Melching Field. The senior righty allowed just four hits and one run over nine innings and struck out a career-high 11 batters raising his record to 3-4 on the season.

With the victory Stetson (24-26, 13-12) officially qualified for the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament scheduled for May 20-23 in DeLand. ETSU (23-23, 9-16) remains in a battle with Campbell for the sixth and final berth into the championship event hosted by Stetson.

Aaron Crittenden (Fort Myers, Fla.) and Sean Emory (Miami, Fla.) led the offense against the Bucs. Crittenden was 3-for-4 with a run scored, and Emory was 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI. Jeff Simpson (Valrico, Fla.), Jeremy Cruz (Miami, Fla.) and Mark Jones (Palm Coast, Fla.) each contributed a pair of base hits to the cause.

Stetson opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Crittenden reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on a ground out, and then scored on an RBI single by Jones.

After the Buccaneers evened the score in the top of the third, the Hatters responded in the bottom half to take a 3-1 lead. With one out Emory singled to left field to get the rally started. Simpson followed with a single through the right side advancing Emory to third. Casey Frawley (New Haven, Ct.) did his job by hitting the ball to the right side and scoring Emory. Cruz was next and he singled up the middle driving in Simpson from second base.

While Mauldin was holding down the ETSU offense, Stetson added another run in the fifth on an RBI single by Nick Rickles (Loxahatchee, Fla.), and a pair in the eighth on a two-RBI single by Emory.
