DeLand, Fla. - The defending Atlantic Sun Conference regular season champion Stetson baseball team will soon ramp up preparations for defending its title as the Hatters start the fall conditioning and exhibition season on September 26. All practices and scrimmages will be open to the public, including the annual Hatter Series, set for Oct. 31-Nov. 4.
Fall practices and scrimmages begin September 26 and run through the conclusion of the Hatter Series on November 4 at Melching Field. Scrimmage dates will be Sept. 29, Sept. 30, Oct. 7, Oct. 8, Oct. 20, Oct. 21, Oct. 27 and Oct. 28.
Additionally, the baseball program's annual Scout Day will be held on October 12 with the five-game Hatter Series set for one game a day from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4. Start time for all practices, scrimmages, Scout Day and Hatter Series games will be 3:00 pm.
The Hatters went 43-20 overall and 20-7 in the Atlantic Sun Conference to claim the A-Sun regular season title; Stetson went on to reach the NCAA Regional finals in Columbia, South Carolina. Six regular starting position players and nearly the entire pitching staff return for Head Coach Pete Dunn's ballclub, including A-Sun Pitcher of the Year Kurt Schluter plus First Team All-Atlantic Sun honorees Robert Crews and Mark Jones.
