Men's Tennis Falls at Florida Atlantic 4-3

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Stetson men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 road contest to Florida Atlantic on Friday afternoon in Boca Raton.

"The fight was good on both sides," Stetson associate head coach Christophe Noblet said. "It came down to just a few games here and there."

FAU won 6-3 at number two doubles and 6-2 at the number three doubles position to earn the first point of the match, giving the Owls an early 1-0 lead.

"The doubles point ultimately decided the outcome of the match," Noblet said. "Our slow start cost us the win at number 2 and 3."

Stetson and FAU split the singles matches 3-3 leading to the Owls' 4-3 victory.

Sophomore Laurynas Antropikas won 6-5 (4), 5-6 (3), 6-4 at number three, junior Chester Espie was victorious 5-6 (5), 6-5 (5), 6-2 at number four, and freshman Graham Ball earned a 6-5, 0-6, 6-5 (4) win at number five for the Hatters' three singles victories.

"We have now two weeks until our next match," Noblet said. "Georgia State is a good team, and we need to prepare for the challenge."

The Hatters host the Panthers Friday, February 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
