Aggressiveness, selflessness, and confidence.
The Hatters are playing with all three qualities of late, and the results have followed.
During the team's current three-game winning streak, Stetson (19-6, 8-3 Atlantic Sun) is averaging 89.3 points, 45.7 rebounds, and 15.6 assists per game. The Hatters are shooting 47.8% from the floor, and they have made 31 3-pointers.
Is the team starting to click as a unit offensively?
"It's been a lot better," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said after Thursday's 92-66 win at USC Upstate. "I have said all along this year that they just need time together. They need minutes together, and you just can't rush that. We are still figuring some of it out. It's coming along pretty quick lately, and hopefully we can keep it going."
The Hatters have also played with consistent, sustained effort of late. In Thursday's contest in particular, the Hatters were attacking the glass for offensive rebounds, getting back on transition defense, and often diving to the floor or lunging out of bounds to try and possess loose balls.
"Most of all, I am pleased with our effort," Bria said. "The offense is going to come and go, there are times that you are not going to score, but our defense and our rebounding can always be there."
Stetson will go for its 20th win of the season and the No. 2 seed for the Atlantic Sun Championship when they visit the Kennesaw State Owls (16-10, 5-6) at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3, and Stetson audio broadcast can be heard on HatterVision.
In addition, live stats, the Stetson women's basketball twitter feed, and HatCheck text messages will provide in-game updates as well.
Going For 20
A victory on Saturday would give Stetson its fifth consecutive 20-win season, and the seventh 20-win season in school history. The Hatters would be just one of two teams in the state of Florida with five straight 20-win seasons.
Home Games in March
If Stetson clinches the No. 2 seed for the A-Sun tournament, the Hatters would host a quarterfinal game on March 6 and if they advance, a semifinal game on March 11. The highest remaining seed would host the A-Sun championship game on March 15.
