Cam Thomas Named ASUN Preseason Player of the Year; Hatters Picked Third in Coaches Poll

Aleah Sorrentino Joins Thomas on Preseason All-ASUN Team

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Stetson senior guard Cameron Thomas was named the ASUN Conference Preseason Player of the Year, the league office announced Friday afternoon. Thomas and graduate forward Aleah Sorrentino were both selected to the Preseason All-ASUN Team, with Thomas earning unanimous recognition from the league's coaches.

As a team, the Hatters were picked to finish third in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll, collecting 118 points and one first-place vote, trailing only Florida Gulf Coast and Central Arkansas. Stetson returns a talented mix of veterans and newcomers, positioning itself as one of the league's most intriguing teams heading into the 2025–26 season.

Thomas, the reigning ASUN Newcomer of the Year, comes off a sophomore campaign in which she led the Hatters with 17.2 points per game and totaled 530 points — the most in the conference last season. She recorded 22 games with 15 or more points, 11 games with 20-plus points, and set a season-high of 30 points against South Alabama, becoming the first Hatter in the past decade to average 17 or more points per game. Her scoring ability, leadership, and versatility make her one of the most exciting players in the ASUN.

Sorrentino adds elite size, scoring, and rebounding to the frontcourt. During her time at Lipscomb, she tallied 735 points, averaged over 12 points per game each season, pulled in 439 rebounds, and blocked 41 shots. She recorded six double-doubles, including a standout 15-point, 23-rebound outing at North Alabama, and earned two ASUN Player of the Week honors.

Coach Lynn Bria's squad opens the season on the road at Alabama on Nov. 3 before returning to host Warner University in the home opener on Nov. 6 at the newly remodeled Insight Credit Union Arena at Edmunds Center. The Hatters will look to build on last season's success and challenge for the ASUN title behind the conference's top returning scorer and one of the league's most dynamic forwards.
