DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson women's basketball begins postseason play on Friday night as the Hatters travel to Miami to face Florida International in the opening round of the 2026 Postseason WNIT. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Ocean Bank Convention Center.
Stetson (20-11, 12-6 ASUN) enters the postseason following a strong campaign that included a semifinal appearance in the ASUN Championship. The Hatters secured the No. 4 seed and opened tournament play with a quarterfinal victory over Florida Gulf Coast before falling to Austin Peay in the semifinals.
The Hatters have been one of the more balanced teams in the ASUN this season, averaging 69.6 points per game while allowing 64.5. Stetson has been efficient offensively, shooting 42.8 percent from the field and 32.8 percent from beyond the arc, while holding opponents to just 38.8 percent shooting overall. On the glass, the Hatters have been steady, narrowly outrebounding opponents 36.3 to 35.7 per game.
Cameron Thomas has led the way offensively for Stetson, earning All-ASUN Second Team and All-ASUN Tournament Team honors. She averages a team-high 16.4 points per game on 43.5 percent shooting and was recently named a finalist for the Women's College All-Star Game after leading the ASUN in total points.
Mary McMillan has been a key piece throughout the season, earning First Team All-ASUN recognition after averaging 14.4 points per game while dishing out 131 assists. She delivered one of her top performances in the ASUN quarterfinals, helping lead Stetson past FGCU with a strong all-around effort that set the tone offensively.
Aleah Sorrentino has anchored the Hatters in the paint, averaging 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, with her rebounding ranking among the top in the ASUN. Promise Keshi has also played a major role on both ends of the floor, totaling 55 steals and 38 blocks while contributing eight points per game, providing a consistent defensive presence.
Friday's matchup will be a familiar one, as Stetson previously faced Florida International in the opening round of the 2024 WNIT in Miami.
FIU (20-11, 12-6 Conference USA) enters the tournament following a semifinal run in the Conference USA Championship, defeating Jacksonville State before falling to Missouri State. The Panthers have been one of the top offensive teams in their league, averaging 70.2 points per game while allowing 65.1.
FIU plays an aggressive style, attacking the rim and leading Conference USA in free throw attempts, while also holding a slight rebounding edge over opponents at 36.6 per game. However, the Panthers average nearly 20 turnovers per contest, something Stetson will look to capitalize on.
Junior guard Rhema Collins leads the Panthers and ranks among the top players in the conference, averaging 17.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game while also leading the team in blocks. Senior guard Parris Perkins adds 17.2 points per game along with strong defensive production, while freshman Grecia Ferrer Leal directs the offense with a team-high 117 assists.
The winner of Friday's contest will advance to the second round of the WNIT and face Abilene Christian on the road.
