Trio of Hatters Honored by A-Sun

The Atlantic Sun Conference announced its men's basketball post-season awards on Monday and three Stetson Hatters found themselves amongst the honored.

Kentwan Smith was named second-team all-conference and Divine Myles and Grant Lozoya were named to the All-Freshmen team in voting by league coaches.

Smith, a senior forward, is enjoying the best season of his career, leading the Hatters in scoring at 13.6 points per game, and topping the A-Sun with 6.7 rebounds per game. Smith has scored in double-figures 22 times this season and has six double-doubles. He ranks second in the conference with 45 blocked shots, the seventh-highest season total in school history.

In conference play, Smith is averaging 16.1 points and 7.9 rebounds.

Myles and Lozoya were unanimous selections to the All-Freshmen team. Lozoya is averaging 9.7 points in all games, but increased his productivity in league play to 10.8 points per game. Overall, he is shooting 36.9 percent from 3-point range. His 52 treys are the second-most in school history for a freshman.

Myles is averaging 10.8 points and ranks seventh in the A-Sun with 3.5 assists per game. Myles has scored in double figures 18 times this season, including a pair of 20-point games. Myles enters the post-season with 104 assists and is the fourth freshman in school history to reach 100. He and fellow freshman Angel Rivera, who has a school freshman record 118 assists, are the first Stetson teammates regardless of class to have 100 assists in the same season.

The Hatters open A-Sun Tournament play, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at North Florida.
