Lynn Bria Signs Contract Extension Through 2021

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson University women's basketball head coach Lynn Bria has signed a contract extension through 2021, Director of Athletics Jeff Altier announced on Wednesday.

An eight-year veteran with the program, Bria has led the Hatters to six straight 20-win seasons and six consecutive appearances in NCAA postseason play.

“Coach Bria has consistently been a very high performer, and I am pleased to be able to extend her stay at Stetson,” Altier said.  "The extension is in recognition of her performance and insures that our women's basketball program will be highly competitive for years to come."

Over the past six seasons, Bria has guided the Hatters to two Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, two NCAA Tournaments, three WNIT appearances, and one Women's Basketball Invitational. The Hatters have posted 137 victories during that stretch, an average of 22.8 wins per season.  Stetson's four-winningest seasons in school history all came between 2011-15, including a school-record 27 victories in the 2013-14 season.

"I am extremely grateful to President Libby, Jeff Altier, and Bob Huth for the support they have given me and our program," Bria said.  "Stetson is just a great place to work.  It is an easy place for me to recruit to, because I just believe so much in its mission.  I am extremely excited to see what the future holds."

In her eight seasons at the helm of the program, Bria has led the Hatters to a 151-107 overall mark. She has seen 14 of her student-athletes earn Atlantic Sun all-conference recognition and seven student-athletes earn All-Freshman Team honors.  This past year, Breana Bey was selected as one of the league's Defensive Players of the Year and McKenna Beach earned Freshman of the Year honors.  In addition, 47 student-athletes have been selected as an A-Sun Player or Newcomer of the Week during Bria's tenure.

Bria's 21-year career as a head coach includes 304 victories and three conference championships.
