DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University volleyball team will compete at its second tournament of the season this weekend as the Hatters travel to Tampa, Fla. for the USF Invitational. The Hatters (0-3) will face New Mexico (3-1) and Florida Atlantic (1-3) on Friday and Georgetown (1-2) and USF (3-0) on Saturday. All matches will be played at the Sun Dome.
Head coach Kristina Hernandez says the team has been pushed hard during practice this week but has responded well.
"We have tweaking all the things that we felt were a little sloppy last weekend," Hernandez said. "A lot of the focus has been on our blocking and just our hands and penetrating over the net. We are also working on our overall serving aggressiveness. It is something we can do as a team, and I felt like we kind of backed off last weekend. We want to make sure we are utilizing that.
"We are also spending a ton of time off of serve receive and running some different options and offensive routes."
On Friday, Stetson will face New Mexico at 11 a.m. and Florida Atlantic at 3:30 p.m. Start times for Saturday are set for 9 a.m. vs. Georgetown and 1:30 p.m. vs. USF.
No live video stream will be available for the Stetson matches. However, live stats will be available on GoUSFBulls.com.
The Stetson volleyball twitter feed and the HatCheck text messaging system will provde in-game updates throughout the weekend as well.
