Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hatters Edged by Fordham, 2-1

DeLAND—Fordham's Jannick Loebe scored the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute to lead the Rams to a 2-1 win over Stetson, Saturday at the Athletic Training Center.

Jannick Loebe tallied the deciding goal when his brother, Janos, served a perfect free kick from just outside the right edge of the goal box. Jannick ripped a grounder past Stetson keeper Paul Ladwig to give the Rams (2-3-2) the lead.

From that point forward Fordham ran out the clock, holding the Hatters (2-3-2) in check for the final 27 minutes.

"We started the game well," Stetson interim head coach Jared Vock said. "We played six to seven minutes of good soccer and six to seven minutes of bad soccer. It's good, it's bad. It's good, it's bad. We need more consistency. We need to be more aggressive and organized. I keep talking about scoring on set pieces and we need to give ourselves more opportunities in that area."

Fordham grabbed an early lead when Janos Loebe scored in the 34th minute, getting an assist from Andrew Hickey.

Stetson knotted the match in the 43rd minute. Daniel O'Brien used his head to find the back of the net off a beautiful cross from Finn Busmann.

Fordham took 17 shots and nine corner kicks to just seven and four, respectively, for the Hatters. Ladwig made six saves, while Fordham's Rashid Nuju stopped three shots.

The Hatters return to action when they open Atlantic Sun Conference play at Lipscomb, 8 p.m., Wednesday, in Nashville, Tenn.
