Hatters Open Road Trip at Kennesaw State

Stetson has won 17 in a row against the Owls

Stetson will begin a two-game ASUN road trip on Saturday afternoon when the Hatters travel to Kennesaw, Ga. to face the the Kennesaw State Owls.  Tip-off at the KSU Convocation Center is scheduled for 2 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN3 and WSBB.

Immediately following the game, the Hatters will travel to Nashville, Tenn. for a Monday night contest against the Lipscomb Lady Bisons.

Stetson (11-5, 0-1) will look to end a rare three-game losing streak on Saturday.  The Hatters have had success against the Owls (2-13, 1-0) of late, winning the last 17 head-to-head meetings.  The two teams met in last year's ASUN quarterfinals with Stetson coming away with a 74-56 victory.  The Hatters lead the all-time series 22-3.

Stetson enters the weekend with an NCAA-best .824 percentage from the free throw line.  Five different Hatters are shooting better than 80 percent from the charity stripe, led by Brianti Saunders' mark of .936.  The Hatters also lead the conference in scoring (72.0) and blocks-per-game (3.2).

Breana Bey has been red-hot of late.  The Hatter senior was 9-for-10 from the floor and scored 22 points in last Saturday's game vs. FGCU.  That performance raised her season field goal shooting percentage to .606, a mark that currently ranks 13th in the NCAA.   She has also made 27 of her last 28 free throws dating back to Nov. 19.

KSU enters the game 1-0 in ASUN play following last week's 70-55 victory over Lipscomb.

Live stats, the Stetson women's basketball twitter feed (@StetsonWBB), and the new HatCheck text messaging system will provide in-game updates.

Take Aways
Despite the 84-71 loss to FGCU in the ASUN opener, the Hatters had a lot of positives to take away from the game.  Stetson outrebounded FGCU 37-20, the Hatters shot 54 percent from the floor and 92 percent from the free throw line, and Stetson held a 44-32 advantage in points in the paint.

Block Party
Sarah Sagerer is just one of eight players in the NCAA with 50 or more blocks on the season (51).  She has recorded at least two blocks in six straight games.

Last Year at Kennesaw State...
Stetson withstood a late Kennesaw State rally to claim a 57-54 victory at the KSU Convocation Center.  Brianti Saunders led the Hatters with 13 points.
