Four Different Players Score as Hatters Down Upstate

A flurry of goals at the end of the first half lifted Stetson to a 4-1 ASUN Conference victory over USC Upstate, Friday in Spartanburg, S.C.

Friday's victory extends Stetson's unbeaten streak to nine games and puts the Hatters (7-2-3 overall, 2-0-2) on top of the ASUN standings with three conference games remaining.

"We scored some really good goals tonight," Stetson head coach Manoj Khettry said. "For us to be able to win convincingly tonight goes a long way. It's nice to get a win when so many people contribute and play meaningful minutes. Teams have to make a choice against us. We're a pretty potent, attacking team when we share the ball and move it around."

Stetson scored three goals in just over seven minutes to break open a scoreless contest late in the first half.

Lindsey Parent gave the Hatters a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute with her fourth goal of the season. Florencia Baldassini followed three minutes later with her second goal for a 2-0 lead.

Adrianna Suarez capped the scoring burst with her second goal of the year. Allison Zaccheo assisted on the goal as Stetson took a 3-0 lead into halftime

Greta scored her first career goal in the 52nd minute as Stetson expanded it lead to 4-0. Baldassini assisted the score.

Upstate scored its only goal in the 55th minute, thanks to a goal by Emelie Valenciano.

Stetson keeper Emily Plotz made six saves against 18 shots by the Spartans.

The Hatters continue ASUN play when they visit NJIT, 1 p.m., Sunday.
