Hatters Edged By High Point 69-64

Chambers leads with 22 points

DeLand, Fla. -- Camryn Brown scored a game-high 24 points as High Point rallied for a 69-64 win over Stetson Monday night at the Edmunds Center.

Brittney Chambers scored 22 points to lead the Hatters (3-4), who suffered just their first November home loss since 2010.

McKenna Beach scored 15 points and collected nine assists while playing all 40 minutes.

"I thought we had chances, but I am just disappointed in our rebounding," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "Especially late in the game, there were some critical rebounds we needed to get, and they got them.  They made plays, and we didn't make plays."

The Hatters led 30-27 at the half and by as many as 10 late in the third quarter.  However, the Panthers (3-2) erased the deficit with an 11-0 run into the fourth quarter.

Stetson regained a 60-57 advantage with 4:20 to play, but High Point outscored Stetson 12-4 down the stretch to grab the victory.

"We got up by 10 and then started to make some really bad decisions," Bria said.  "We started chucking up some 3s early in the shot clock, and they just weren't good shots.  That gave them run outs."

Stetson shot 39 percent from the floor and hit just 3-of-20 from behind the arc.  High Point shot 44 percent and outrebounded the Hatters 40-32.

Stetson will return home Wednesday night to host Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m.

Notes:
  • Brittney Chambers scored her 500th point as a Hatter. She has scored in double figures in 13 straight games.
  • McKenna Beach played her second straight 40-minute game.
  • Stetson held a 36-22 advantage in points in the paint.
