Hatters Return to Action Saturday vs. Western Kentucky

After playing 11 games in the first 28 days of the season, the Stetson Hatters will return from a nine-day final exam break to face Western Kentucky Saturday afternoon in the West Palm Beach Invitational.  The game will be played at Keiser University, located at 2600 N. Military Trail in West Palm Beach, with a noon tip-off.

Stetson (6-5) won three of its last four games prior to the break.  Senior guard Brittney Chambers is coming off a 19-point performance at No. 10 Florida State on Dec. 7.  She leads the ASUN in scoring (18.1 ppg).

Western Kentucky (6-3), meanwhile, has won five in a row.  The Hilltoppers are the defending C-USA champions and are led by seniors Tashia Brown (22.1 ppg) and Ivy Brown (15.0 ppg).  As a team, WKU averages 78.6 ppg.

"They are a really good team and very well-coached," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "They don't do anything fancy, but everything they do, they do extremely well.  I have a lot of respect for them.  It's going to be a good challenge for us."

Western Kentucky will be the fourth 2017 NCAA Tournament opponent for the Hatters this season.  Stetson has already faced Texas, Chattanooga and Florida State.

Saturday will be the second all-time meeting between the two schools.  The Hilltoppers defeated the Hatters back in 1985, a 104-70 decision in DeLand.

A live video stream of the game will be broadcast at Keiser's website here.  In addition, live stats, twitter (@StetsonWBB) and the HatCheck text messaging system will provide live updates as well.

Next week, the 30th Annual Hatter Classic comes to the Edmunds Center with a pair of games scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.  Stetson will host Richmond and Texas State during the two-day tournament.

Notes:
  • Head Coach Lynn Bria has 183 coaching victories at Stetson, one shy of tying the school record.
  • As a team, the Hatters rank 15th in the NCAA in free throw pct. (.789).
McKenna Beach leads the league in assists (53) and Megan Vincent leads the conference in blocks (17).
  • Kennedi Colclough ranks third in the ASUN in rebounds (79) and fifth in points scored (144).
