Hatters Ready for ASUN Tourney Showdown at FGCU

Stetson men's basketball opens ASUN Tournament play when the No. 8 seed Hatters visit top seed FGCU, 7 p.m., Monday at Alico Arena in Fort Myers. The game can be seen on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app, and can be heard in Volusia County on WSBB AM 1230 and 1490 or worldwide on myam1230.com.

ASUN Tournament games will be played on Feb. 26, March 2 and March 5 at the home site of the higher seed. As the eight seed, Stetson will play all of its tournament games on the road.

The Hatters (11-20) and Eagles (23-7) have played a pair of memorable games this season, both FGCU victories. In January's meeting, the Hatters suffered an 89-88 loss when FGCU's Brandon Goodwin sank three free throws with less than two seconds to play. Last Monday, the Hatters and Eagles battled in a back-and-forth affair which ultimately ended in an 80-70 FGCU win.

In 2016, Stetson advanced to the ASUN Championship game against FGCU where they lost, 80-78, in overtime.

•Derick Newton is the first Hatter with back-to-back 500-point seasons since Mark Brisker in 1991 (603) and 1992 (633).
•Divine Myles needs one point to reach the 500-point mark. He and Newton would be the first Hatters to do so in the same season since Joel Hancock (554) and Dalton Epting (550) in 1961-62.
